Chef Akira Back. I just love you. You are by far one of my favorite Chefs of all time! The man just keeps re-inventing himself and all his
dishes are to die for. Each plate was exceptionally presented with a personality of its own!
His most recent restaurant takes place in the lovely Mandalay Bay Resort named Kumi, specializing in his typical Japanese fair with a Korean Twist. The place is gorgeous! I felt so fancy! Beautiful designed with Japanese Cherry Blossoms and Bonsai Trees with minimal lighting, perfect for a romantic date night and plenty of space for a large party!
The food. Omg. We ordered several items; first dish that came out was the Rock Shrimp Tempura with Sriracha Ranch. Spicy, creamy, crunchy samd shrimpy! All the things that excited my Thai palate!
Yellowtail Serrano with Micro Cilantro. I love yellowtail, its my favorite fish to have sashimi style and adored it at Kumi the most. The Yuzu soy sauce and Serrano were a great combination.
My favorite dish was the Toban Filet w/Mushrooms
on the Sizzling Plate. You can hear this plate the moment it leaves the
kitchen! I love the sound of meat sizzling and the facial you get while diving
in.
My 2nd favorite is the Pop Rock
Roll. This dish was exciting! With every bite there was a snap , crackle and
pop! Such a fun dish!
Service: Friendly, I love it when people have a sense of
urgency. And last but not least ambiance was fun and hip with a live Dj! I had such a wonderful time here and I'm %100 positive all of you foodies will as well! Don't forget to invite me if you go!!
